Frequently Asked Questions
What is so Unique About NaturoMoves?
The foundation for NaturoMoves was based on Gayla Maxwell's book on emotional fitness, Permission to Dance...One Step at a Time. With this as the base, all activities and courses go well beyond working only on the physical aspect of your fitness and are designed to link the emotional, spiritual and intellectual muscles creating greater awareness and therefore increased personal empowerment. Clients will experience the bliss that comes from being completely present and having fun IN their bodies rather than trying to distract themselves from the ‘no pain no gain’ beliefs often associated with maintaining fitness.
*Rhythmic Anchoring (RMA) is used in most classes. See more below
What is RMA or Rhythmic Anchoring?
NaturoMoves facilitation method known as Rhythmic Anchoring (RMA) is used in all delivery and provides the foundation for achieving sustained positive subconscious effects long after the class is over. Taken from the personal development book, Permission to Dance, Gayla has blended a precise and simultaneous physical and mental stimulation in all trainers facilitation methodology. This providesnot only a great workout, but also the ability to effortlessly achieve long and short term goals.
How do NaturoMoves classes differ from fitness centres or Gyms?
We like to WITH them rather than against them for starters. You will find our classes in several fitness centers around Melbourne however our classes and courses are as much about personal development as they are about the physical workout.
Motivation is increased by understanding what actually motivates YOU while experiencing what it is to give yourself permission to move in ways that most serve your own body.
What about cost effectiveness?
The combination of fitness with playful, structured personal development delivers excellent results at a fraction of the price of combining gym fitness with coaching, counseling or personal development workshops or seminars.
Fees and Charges?
About the same as most aerobics classes. There are no joining fees and the only commitment we ask for is the one you have to yourself.
Our intention is to serve first. We don't have long term memberships and therefore we have to keep you coming back for more. We love the challenge of that as much as you will enjoy our genuine passion to make you feel special.
How does each class fulfill the needs of body, mind and spirit?
Every class will begin with centering each individual within themselves in order to establish a safe and empowered state in which to experience themselves and the class most fully. We provide emotional, mental and spiritual development using the language of physical movement.
The variety of movement, playful friendly environment, and a focus on being in the moment rather than reaching into the future for outcomes supports opening to greater mental, emotional and physical consciousness.
Will this style of facilitation really help me maintain more consistent motivation?
Absolutely! The body and mind support one another completely. You can't get around that. So if you're doing exercise and telling yourself “I HAVE to work hard on this treadmill so my butt won't look so big in that hat”, lets face it the motivation factor is ordinary to say the least. We're too fat, too old, too skinny, and then just to add salt to the wound, we tell ourselves that we're "too inconsistent" when we finally decide to listen to our bodies and stop doing what we didn't want to do in the first place! When our mental language and physical movement are working together in alignment, results are faster, more sustainable and just between you and me (and the internet)... it’s a heck of a lot more fun! Just ask any Olympic athlete.
Do I have to commit to a 10 or 12 week course to feel the benefits of these classes?
No. If you attend any class with an open willingness to participate, you will gain immediate benefits. Being clear on your personal goals is helpful however it is difficult to leave any of these classes feeling anything less than nurtured, energised and more positive. Naturally to gain long term benefits, it is essential to continue some consistent form of positive mental and physical routine.
I love the idea of cost effectively increasing physical, emotional and intellectual fitness at the same time! How can I get involved in this new movement?
Contact NaturoMoves direcly and we can advise you of Upcoming Events and the venue closest to you in the Melbourne area.
If you live interstate and are interested in experiencing this new way to experience your mind and body, please contact our office for special events in your state!
I’m not single but would love to come to your “Single Most Fun” classes.
Great question! It is our intention to provide an exciting, enjoyable and safe environment for many groups and individuals. The class is in no way a dating service so you wouldn't feel uncomfortable however we have other classes that provide the same fun and expression for couples and individuals where the whole intention of the class might be better suited to you.
I dance with two left feet. Will this slow the rest of the class down?
We love all feet! Unlike many dance classes where the desired outcome is the final dance performance, the Rhythmic Anchoring facilitation style has another intention all together. The best outcomes will be a result of you choosing to enjoy the process and have some fun with whatever feet you've got - even if they have a life of their own sometimes!
What should I wear to classes?
Loose comfortable clothing. Layers are often useful for all the seasons Melbourne has in one day.
Can I eat before I come to a class?
If necessary but we recommend you leave at least an hour in between eating a light meal doing the class. Meditation class is the exception (Not to be confused with Moving Meditations where there is still a cardio component.
